Featured Lots - Friday

Lot 58 - - NOS 12′ John Deere Single-Sided Smaltz Metal Sign Lot 58 - NOS 12′ John Deere Single-Sided Smaltz Metal Sign

Presented with the original wood frame and original wood backing, this Three-Legged Deer sign is of the single-sided design. According to Dave Anton, only 16 examples of this sign have been found and this one has good color with some wear, soiling, and scratches.

Lot 35 - - John Deere Milk Glass Lighted Metal Hood Sign Lot 35 - John Deere Milk Glass Lighted Metal Hood Sign

The only complete example known, according to Dave Anton, this sign is two single-sided porcelain-embossed die cut signs mounted back-to-back and hanging under its original milk glass lighted metal hood. Showing excellent color and gloss, the display has a couple of tiny chips and the point has minor damage. The reverse side has two touched-up chips in the field, the metal hood has rust spots in the original green paint. The Reichmann Brothers is a dealership in Southern Illinois celebrating their 100th anniversary this year.

Lot 41 - - NOS Caterpillar-John Deere DSPN Sign in the Original Crate Lot 41 - NOS Caterpillar-John Deere DSPN Sign in the Original Crate

Still in the original crate, this NOS Caterpillar-John Deere double sided porcelain neon sign has excellent color and gloss despite a few small chips in the field. The wood slats of the original wood shipping crate have not been removed on the reverse.

Featured Lots - Saturday

Lot 272 - - NOS Musgo Gasonline Sign Lot 272 - NOS Musgo Gasonline Sign

Discovered in an attic in Michigan, this Musgo sign is truly spectacular. Never-before-seen by the public, Musgo signs are one of the most sought-after of the gas-oil brands. The opportunity to find an absolutely exquisite example such as this one isn’t just rare, it’s unheard of. A double sided porcelain sign, only the most minute of blemishes and imperfections score this example.

Lot 281 - - Shell Aviation Clamshell & Wings AvGas Sign Lot 281 - Shell Aviation Clamshell & Wings AvGas Sign

This sign is very exciting, and very rare. Afterall, AvGas signs are hugely outnumbered by car and truck gas signs, especially going back a few decades – there were only a few airports in the country. Comprised of multiple single sided porcelain pieces, the center clamshell has good color and moderate gloss, the right edge has some porcelain loss. A small bend and some small chips are seen, but they don’t detract from the overall presentation. Both wings present very nicely.

Lot 297 - - NOS Grizzly Gasoline Pump Plate Lot 297 - NOS Grizzly Gasoline Pump Plate

Rated by The Authentication Company as an 8.5, this rare Double-Sided Porcelain (DSP) sign measures 30”x30” and shows good color and gloss with light wear overall. A couple of chips in the field at a couple of mounting holes, all-in-all, it’s hard to deny this sign.
